The 113th Convention has concluded in Bloomington.

177 delegates attended the convention April 13-14 at the Hilton Garden Inn, Bloomington.  Thank you to Jeff Fultz, Troy Clark, Paul Toms, Dave Miller, and Tim Turner for providing contract training.  During general session delegates met with candidates for the 9th district congressional seat, the democrat nominee for governor, state house representatives, and US senate candidates. On Saturday NALC President Fred Rolando addressed the delegation.

Senate Bill 1789

NALC disappointed, but determined, as Senate passes S. 1789: The Senate adopted a deeply flawed postal reform bill on Wednesday, voting for S. 1789, the 21st Century Postal Service Act, by a vote of 62 to 37. “We’re disappointed, but we are determined to fight on,” NALC President Fredric Rolando said after the vote. He reminded letter carriers that the legislative process is far from over. “It may take months to get a bill through the House of Representatives,” he said, “but we will not rest in this struggle to defend a strong and viable Postal Service.”

WORKERS MEMORIAL DAY

Workers Memorial Day is April 28: Every year on April 28, the unions of the AFL-CIO observe Workers Memorial Day to remember those who have suffered and died on the job and to renew our efforts for safe workplaces. This year, the struggle continues to create good jobs in this country that are safe and healthy and to ensure the freedom of workers to form unions and, through their unions, to speak out and bargain for respect and a better future. It's time for our country to fulfill the promise of safe jobs for all.
